our decision to travel the world

Updated: May 11, 2018

'Once the travel bug bites there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life.' Michael Palin

In January 2016 we looked at the world and asked - where do we want to go?

We’ve been to Hawaii (NYE 2011), Bora Bora (Honeymoon Nov 2014) and Bali (Chris and Charlotte’s wedding Aug 2015).

Before these trips, Stuart hadn’t been out of the country. I’ve been to Fiji and New Zealand when I was a kid and Malaysia a couple of years ago with a friend.

In January 2016 we looked at the world and asked - where do we want to go?

We decided the Europe thing was a good idea and we will do a big America trip for Stuart’s 40th in May 2017, so we threw in Europe in August 2016.

We called our travel agent Ally Casey from TravelManagers to get ideas. Ally booked our honeymoon and we were really happy with her. We wanted to go to a few places in Europe and didn’t want to worry about where to go, when and how to get there. I’d rather ask an expert to organise everything for us than try and do it ourselves..

We said to Ally that we wanted to do the tourist thing - get in and out and take photos of all the big stuff. When we looked at the world map we saw the Maldives wasn’t far from Europe, so we asked to throw that in at the end.

The result: we’re travelling to Venice, Florence, Rome, Nice, Paris and stopping by the Maldives on the way home.
